March 15, 2021 — The Don Walker Memorial Scholarship is pleased to announce that Aimee Galaszewski, a junior at Marquette University, has been chosen as the fund’s sixth recipient.
Galaszewski, of Greenfield, is general manager of MUTV. She is seeking a double major in journalism and digital media. Marquette officials who selected her to receive the scholarship said she is interested in sports journalism but also excels at news, is a fantastic leader, good writer and kind — all traits of Don Walker.
The Walker scholarship is awarded to a journalism student at either Marquette University or the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The fund that finances the scholarship has risen from $25,000 five years ago to $100,000.

This scholarship honors the legacy of Donald L. Walker, an alumnus of Marquette University and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He was an editor and reporter for the Milwaukee Journal and Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and a founding member of the Milwaukee Newspaper Guild.
Over nearly four decades, Walker covered the issues and events of Milwaukee and beyond with integrity, fairness, wit and compassion. He was a consummate professional who balanced his life with his family, friends, sports, literature and music.
The Don Walker Memorial Scholarship provides $3,000 annually to a student studying journalism at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee or Marquette University. The award alternates schools.
The Don Walker Memorial Scholarship is administered through the MPC Endowment, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit foundation affiliated with the Milwaukee Press Club. The scholarship greatly appreciates the support of its leadership sponsors, including the Milwaukee Newspaper Guild and the Milwaukee Press Club.
