This scholarship honors the legacy of Donald L. Walker, an alumnus of Marquette University and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He was an editor and reporter for the Milwaukee Journal and Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and a founding member of the Milwaukee Newspaper Guild.

Over nearly four decades, Walker covered the issues and events of Milwaukee and beyond with integrity, fairness, wit and compassion. He was a consummate professional who balanced his life with his family, friends, sports, literature and music.

The Don Walker Memorial Scholarship provides $4,000 annually to a student studying journalism at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee or Marquette University. The award alternates schools. The fund that finances the scholarship has risen from $25,000 five years ago to $100,000. You can read more about the scholarship winners here.
